The Dance Floor

Let’s all be honest, the dance floor is commonly the favorite place of all weddings. How many weddings have you been to where you can’t wait to get through the day, finish your meal and start the party on the dance floor? Oh yes, the entire day is very important, and certainly the ceremony is the most crucial and honored moment. We all know that inside we are just waiting for the dance floor. Hundreds of images are made on the dance floor. Most often, absolutely more than are necessary. But this is also the photographer’s place to be playful, artistic, and experimental. This is why commonly a proof book can be overwhelmingly packed with dance candids. Most of the time, very few of these dance candids make it into the final album, telling the story of the day. Leaving the fun, excitement, and art, put away, with an overwhelming amount of images in a proof book, in a box, in a closet. Recently, we have created a final image to celebrate these dance candids and present them for a couple to enjoy in their daily world. Approximately 100 of our favorite dance candids were put into a 24”x48” final print to be displayed in the bride and groom’s home. Following, you will find a view of the final images with some of our favorite candids contained within. What a clever way to showcase your wedding! Instead of pulling out the wedding album when you have guests over, turn your images into a fine art piece centered at eye level for all to view. This reception was held at the University Club of Chicago.

My Cousin Austin

If any of you know me well, you know that I am a huge family person. I have tons of cousins. I have cousins that I am just getting to know, cousins that are more like brothers and sister to me, and cousins that I have never met.

My cousin Austin will be a senior this year so we took him down to the beach in New Buffalo for a sunset senior portrait session. Let me start by saying that when Austin was younger I would use him as my model for testing after I graduated college. He would do anything I asked. He was great! That’s what I love about photographing children, for the most part, they are willing participants and aren’t hung up about how they look. I have the most amazing pictures of Austin that document an entire summer of his life as he was growing up. Well, it had been some time since I had seen my cousin Austin. Wow! I was shocked!! Tall, toned and tanned. All I can say is enjoy it while you can. I can’t say that I remember those days clearly, but have somewhat of a faint recollection. Maybe he should sign with an agency. Looks like runway material to me!
