Groom & Groom Nuptials in tented wedding on the beach. Union Pier, Michigan

Peter and Ashley surrounded themselves with close family and friends as they celebrated their nuptials in a private ceremony in Union Pier, Michigan. Having visited the Harbor Country area for weekend getaways for many years, it was an easy decision as to where to hold the event. The ceremony was initially set for the beach, but with cool temperatures and high winds, they opted for the warmth of the tent. Peter and Ashley are the owners of Tulipia Floral Design in River Forest, Illinois. The arrangements surpassed all of the guest’s expectations, turning a “tent wedding on the beach” into an oasis of the senses.

<img src="images/kingston_blog_02.jpg" width="480"
Willow Harbor Vineyards Wedding

Approaching our client’s wedding day by focusing on capturing timeless moments with a natural documentarian approach, allows us to tell a heartfelt story rather than a perfect fairytale. Both Johnny and I feel that one of our greatest strengths is having the ability to capture emotional and artistic images that convey true storytelling moments. What inspires us, and defines us, is our need to create impactful images as a storyteller, not a director. Success to us is making people feel comfortable in front of our cameras so they forget about poising, thus allowing themselves to be in the moment, so we are able to capture real, raw emotions throughout the day.

Creating epic portraits and scenes with drama, mood and atmosphere, is only a small part of what makes up a couple’s wedding day, the majority of the day is spent connecting with the bride and groom, their families and guests. Having an emotional connection allows us to be a part of the wedding day, making us feel as if we are not just hired vendors for the occasion, but guests attending the wedding. You can often find us pinning boutonnières, adjusting a bride’s veil, laughing during a particularly humorous speech, or holding back a tear during a heartfelt one. We have often been asked by guest how long we have known the bride and groom, as if we are old friends who were asked to photograph the wedding.

Michael and Abby, thank you for giving us the opportunity to document your story, allowing us to use your wedding day to continue to grow as artists.

Wedding preperations held at The Marina Grand Resort. To view a previous wedding photographed at Marina Grand Resort, click here.

Wedding ceremony and reception held at Willow Harbor Vineyards. To view a previous wedding photographed at Willow Harbor Vineyards, click here.

Wedding at The Inn at Union Pier

Elizabeth and Brendon said “i do” at one of Harbor Country’s most charming locations, The Inn at Union Pier. The Inn is located within walking distance to Lake Michigan. This is our favorite beach in harbor country. Nestled between New Buffalo public beach and Warren Dunes State Park, the “road-end beaches” that exist in-between are untarnished by commercial development and provide lush vegetation with miles of sandy shores. The intimate setting was the perfect choice for the small gathering of family and friends who gathered to witness the love between Elizabeth and Brendon. The outpouring of love was so tangible throughout the day, making it a such a pleasure to be a part of. Thank you Elizabeth and Brendon for recognizing how important our work is to us, and selecting us to provide images that we know you will treasure for a lifetime! We appreciate your trust.

Interfaith minister, Bonnie Corondan, officiated the ceremony. We have a long history with Bonnie both personally and professionally. The love that is within Bonnie always radiates outward, casting a peaceful feeling, as she performs the ceremony. Particularly in this case where natural beauty was so abundant, and only guests with the deepest connection to the bride and groom where in attendance.

Classic Catering, Harbor Country’s premier catering company, provided the tent rental, where guest dined and also acted as a dance floor later in the evening. As always, Classic Catering did an outstanding job with appetizers passed throughout cocktail hour and an abundance of delicious dishes served family style.

We wish you a lifetime of happiness Elizabeth and Brendon!
